Around 273 thousand tourists had visited Fiji in the first half of 2010 exceeding the same index by more than 20% of 2009.

This is evidenced by Fiji Bureau of Statistics published by the portal ASIATravelTips.com.

Only in June, this island nation had more than 56,000 visitors from abroad, thereby breaking the four-years-old record.

For comparison: in June 2006, almost 52,8 thousand people have honored Fiji with their tourist attention.

The Head of Office of Tourism of the Republic, Joseph Tuamotu, noted that high rates were achieved by increasing the number of tourists from India and China – on average, these countries “supplied” a third more tourists in comparison with last year.

Tuamotu expressed the hope that till the end of 2010 Fiji, the first time in its history, will take more than 600 thousand people per year.
